About the Ball

Goldney Ball is held annually in the beautiful grounds of Goldney Hall, one of the largest halls of residence at the University of Bristol. Attracting close to 1500 students each year, it is one of the most prominent events on the University Calendar. All money raised goes to charities, which last year were Tusk and Mind.

The Ball is held in June just after exams finish, making it the ideal celebration for students from all years, including large numbers of graduates. It is a high profile event - in 2007 there were over 300 performers - ranging from bands and DJs to dancers, and from magicians to show fencers. It also attracts big name acts. Jools Holland has performed in the past, as have world DJ champions the Scratch Perverts, TV illlusionist Derren Brown, Fabric Nightclub Resident DJ High Contrast, James Bown's legendary saxophonist PeeWee Ellis, and most recently the Bodyrockers.

The Ball's Management Committee seeks sponsorship from local and national companies in order to help make the Ball financially viable.
